Elections Q&A

The Clerk’s Office will continue to issue and mail absentee ballots exactly as before.  There will be NO changes in our procedures.   

During the week of September 21st, the Clerk’s Office will mail absentee ballots to registered voters who have properly applied. We will also begin issuing ballots in-person to registered voters and we will, as always, ask for valid ID. If the Post Office does not deliver your ballot, a replacement can easily be obtained by appearing in-person in the Clerk’s Office or by submitting a completed Spoil Ballot form (Request to Spoil Absent Voter Ballot). 

If you do not want to mail the ballot back in the stamped postage-paid envelope, you can return it via a Township drop box or directly to the Clerk’s Office in Township Hall. We are video monitoring the drop boxes and we collect the contents at least once every business day.  

In person voting options have expanded: There are now 9 days of early voting at the Bloomfield Twp. Library (or the Waterford Oaks Activity Center) beginning on October 24 and ending November 1.   

Election Day is November 3.

As part of our ongoing efforts to improve the efficiency, security, and cost-effectiveness of elections in Bloomfield Township, we have consolidated to 12 precincts. This change will streamline operations across multiple fronts, ultimately benefitting Bloomfield Township residents.

  • Polling location: Your polling place may have changed.
  • Precinct number: Even if your polling location stayed the same, your precinct number may be different.
  • Voter ID card: If your information changed, you will automatically receive a new voter ID card in the mail. If nothing changed, your current card remains valid.

*Please note: The only change Precinct 12 has experienced is a change in precinct number.

  • Enhance accessibility: By reducing the number of polling locations, we can select the most convenient, accessible, and efficient sites.
  • Improve integrity: Fewer locations allow for stronger oversight and greater election security.
  • Boost service: On Election Day, fewer calls to the Clerk’s Office means faster response times and better assistance for residents.
  • Increase efficiency: Results can be reported more quickly at the end of the night.
