Free digital literacy workshops.

Join us for our 2nd annual digital literacy day, where we host a series of free 30-minute digital literacy presentations with Q&A by staff and special guests. Choose which topics interest you or spend the whole day with us! The Great Greek food truck will be onsite from 11 a.m.–1 p.m. for anyone who would like to purchase lunch.

What goes on at BCTV and how can you be a part of it? This is the first step in producing your own show as a community member, non-profit partner or anyone interested in being a guest on one of our shows. Learn about the mission of BCTV, how we’re funded (*not tax dollars!) and where we’re headed.

With more than 40 years in the television industry, Joe Raznik has seen it all. In this session, he'll share insider stories and behind-the-scenes details from his work on the Super Bowl technical set-up.

Podcasting Behind-the-Scenes   4 p.m.
Michael Seltzer, Community Producer/Host of The Franklin Show

As one of our most active community producers, Michael Seltzer has produced 33 episodes in one year at BCTV. His show also won a Hometown Media Award for Informational Talk Show Series. Come watch a live taping of a brand new episode in our studio. We promise it will be entertaining.

Sports Broadcasting Camp

Ticket to Sports Broadcasting Camp - Ages 14-18, August 11-14, 18-20, 2025

Location: Bloomfield Community Television, 4190 Dublin Rd., Bloomfield Twp
Dates: August 11-14 (M-Th), 18-20 (M-W)
Times: 9 a.m.-3 p.m. (Aug 11-18), 2 p.m.-10 p.m. (Aug 19), 11 a.m.-2 p.m. (Aug 20)
Age: 14-18
Cost: $200 for residents of Bloomfield Township, Bloomfield Hills, Birmingham, Beverly Hills, Bingham Farms, or Franklin. $250 for non-residents.
Space is limited. ***Deadline Extended *** Applications Due June 19, 2025.

Are you ready to step into the exciting world of sports broadcasting? The Sports Broadcasting Camp offers students a unique, hands-on experience covering live sporting events.

Throughout the camp, students will dive into every aspect of a live broadcast, including:

  • Running a broadcast production truck
  • Operating cameras and capturing the action
  • Managing replay, graphics, and audio
  • Understanding broadcast engineering
  • On-camera reporting and storytelling

The camp's highlight is Game Day, where students will put their skills to the test by producing a live broadcast of a soccer match between Seaholm High School and Brother Rice High School. From behind the scenes to the anchor desk, students will play a vital role in bringing the game to life.

The final day of camp is a Wrap Party, where students will watch their broadcast replay, celebrate their achievements, and enjoy a special lunch together.

Dress Code: Must wear proper crew attire of black polo shirt and black jeans. No yoga pants.
Lunch: Bring a brown bag lunch each day, except for the Wrap Party on the final day.

Community Media Day Awards and Proclamation

October 28th, 2024

Director of Cable and Community Relations, Carrie LeZotte, participated in a Board of Trustees Meeting to seek a proclamation that allowed the Township to recognize October 20 as Community Media Day.

The approved proclamation was followed by a ceremony, with outstanding community partners and producers being bestowed the inaugural Heart of the Community Awards:

  •  Dr. Niru Prasad - Community Producer of the Year
  • Bloomfield Township Public Library - Community Partner of the Year
  • Maggie Barclay - Employee Partner of the Year
  • Steve Rota - Honoree for 25+ Years of Service

BCTV Performance Stage at The Bloomfield Township Open House

BCTV's contribution to the Township Open House this year was the BCTV performance stage. This stage featured diverse talents from local artists throughout the event.

Free Digital Literacy Workshops

This September we hosted a series of free 30-minute digital literacy presentations with Q&A by staff and special guests.

Documentary Youth Workshop

BCTV hosted its first Documentary Youth Workshop this past June.  This workshop ran in conjuncture with the Township Police Department's Regional Youth Academy (RYA), and was geared for students ages 14-18. Young filmmakers told the stories of RYA cadets with guidance from BCTV Staff. Participants learned interview techniques, pre-production strategies, hands-on camera training, and editing. The final short video created by the students (shown below) was shown at the RYA Graduation Ceremony.
