Internship Timeframe
Summer & Fall 2026
(June through August & September through November)
Job Description
By offering this opportunity we hope to expose public-service interested individuals to election administration. Our goal is to spark excitement about the functioning of American Democracy so more individuals choose a career in elections or become a life-long election volunteer (e.g. Precinct Worker).
If selected, you will participate in a complete election cycle in Bloomfield Township.
Your work will include voter registration, absentee ballot issuance/processing/counting, election worker coordination, and Election Day activities. You will become knowledgeable about election laws/rules, election equipment, and the Qualified Voter File. You will have the opportunity to become an accredited election administrator through the Michigan Department of State. We will expose you to and expect your assistance with other Clerk Department responsibilities.
We work Monday-Thursday 7am to 5:30pm. We expect the person to commit 30-40 hours per week (as work requires) and to join us in working 6-7 days a week as the election nears.
Priority will be given to applicants who enroll in and complete the school’s credit-bearing internship class. The Township Clerk will complete any programming, forms, and/or documentation required from the employer for this class.
