Opportunity in the Clerk's Office

This is an experienced professional-level position that will support all clerk department functions. Other duties may be clerical, administrative or project based and include scheduling, arranging meetings, event planning, handling information requests, preparing reports and correspondence.

The Department’s core functions are:

  • Document Retention, Management, and Transparency

This position requires the highest degree of honesty and integrity. We must operate smooth and successful elections, which necessitates working under strict deadlines, adherence to legal requirements and regulatory guidelines, maintaining confidentiality, protecting document chains of custody.  Election work is deeply collaborative and we work extensive overtime hours.

This position is part of the General Employee Union with the Governmental Employees Labor Council (GELC).

Summary of Benefits at Bloomfield Township

Health Insurance: Employees receive Cigna PPO coverage with low premiums—$25/single or $50/family per pay period—and annual deductibles of $2,000/single and $4,000/family. The Township also contributes to a Health Savings Accounts: $1,500 for singles and $3,000 for families. Opt-out incentives include $3,000 (single) or $6,000 (family). Additional health perks include dental, vision, telehealth, and wellness incentives up to $350.

Paid Time Off: The Township provides 40 floating holiday hours, 13 sick days annually (4 hours accrued biweekly), along with a vacation bank with 36 hours added after your first pay period and 7 paid holidays. Three sick days may be used as personal days.

Disability & Life Insurance: Coverage includes short- and long-term disability, $50,000 employee life insurance, $10,000 spouse life insurance, and $25,000 accidental death/dismemberment insurance.

Retirement Plans: The Township contributes 13% to a defined contribution plan (401a) with full vesting after eight (8) years. We also offer a retiree health savings plan with a $3,000 annual contribution by the Township and a mandatory 3% employee contribution.
