Road Maintenance

Potholes

Report Potholes Directly to Oakland County

As the weather warms, the snow melts and the rain begins, the potholes will begin to grow in number and in size. The roads in Bloomfield Township will be pocked with the holes that will damage vehicles and become safety hazards. The Bloomfield Township’s Department of Public Works Road Division will do everything possible to fill the holes by patrolling the subdivision streets on a daily basis. We maintain 213 miles of road so not every neighborhood will be patched every day. With that in mind, please give the Department of Public Works a call at 248-594-2800 to report potholes. Or you can Email us.

Remember, Bloomfield Township only maintains the subdivision roads. Major roads like Telegraph, Woodward, Square Lake, Maple, Quarton, Franklin and so on, are maintained by the Road Commission for Oakland County, RCOC. To Contact RCOC please call their Customer Service Department at 248-858-4804 or Email them.

Working together we can help reduce the plague of potholes.

Bloomfield Township is the only township in the State of Michigan to offer its residents the services of a sophisticated Road Division. Since it was established in the early 1970's, it has grown to become a highly-respected and well-equipped operation. It provides services with a modern fleet of vehicles and equipment. The Division maintains 176 miles of Oakland County subdivision roads and 37 miles of unpaved gravel roads within the Township.

By a contractual agreement with the Township, the Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) retains responsibility for 50 miles of primary roads and state trunk lines within Bloomfield Township. These roads include, but are not limited to, Telegraph, Woodward, the Mile roads, Squirrel Road, Franklin, Inkster, Adams, part of Charing Cross, part of Cranbrook, Fairfax Ave. and Eastways.

Some of the RCOC's maintenance responsibilities are storm sewers, ditches, forestry and signs in the right-of-way (R.O.W.) on all public roads. To request service from the County, call the RCOC Citizens Service Department at 248-858-4804 between 7:30 AM and 4:15 PM, Monday through Friday. You may write them at 2420 Pontiac Lake Road, Waterford MI 48328.
