History

Emergency Responders attending an emergencyThe Bloomfield Township EMS Service was established in July 1977. It was the third Advanced Life Support (ALS) system licensed in Oakland County and the fourth licensed in the state of Michigan. In 1998, Bloomfield Township Paramedics became the first in Oakland County to provide 12-Lead Electrocardiograms (EKG’s). In 2010, our EMS service enhanced and began transporting.

Resources

The Fire Department operates four frontline ALS transport units, two Paramedic Engines and two Paramedic Ladder Companies, 24 hours a day with a minimum of one Paramedic on each unit. All uniformed members of the Fire Department are licensed to one of the levels of pre-hospital medicine. These units are staffed with 60 EMT or Paramedic/Firefighters.

CPR Classes

The Bloomfield Township Fire Department EMS Division offers CPR/AED classes that include instruction in adult, child and infant CPR to Bloomfield Township residents, Bloomfield Township community organizations and employees of Bloomfield Township businesses.  Classes are free and are offered two times a year.  In 2023, dates are currently schedule for January 17th at 6:00 p.m. and September 20th at 6:00 p.m. at the Central Fire Station (1155 Exeter). Call the fire department at 248-433-7745 between the hours of 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM Monday - Thursday for more information and to pre-register
