Records Unit

Adult Fingerprinting

The Police Department will fingerprint people for non-criminal purposes such as employment, adoption, licensing, securities, etc. All residents of Bloomfield Township and all persons working within Bloomfield Township, upon presentation of proper identification, are eligible. The Department does not fingerprint for Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) purposes. The cost is $10.00 for up to two fingerprint cards and $5 for each additional card.  Hours are Tuesdays, 8:00 AM to noon and Thursdays, 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

Bicycle Licensing

Bicycle license tabs cost $1 and are available at the Front Desk of the Police Department during regular business hours. The license is valid as long as the owner owns the bicycle. The following information must be supplied to a Records Clerk when licensing a bicycle: brand of bicycle, serial number, color, wheel size (usually found on the tire wall), whether it is a boys' or girls' style, and name, address and phone number of owner. Bicycle licensing is strongly recommended as the Records Unit maintains a permanent record of the owner's bicycle information, readily accessible if needed in the event of theft.

FOIA Requests

As statutorily mandated, requests for information from the Police Department made under the Michigan Freedom of Information Act must be made in writing. The Records Unit will supply a form for written requests or you may obtain one in PDF format by clicking here. A response to a FOIA Request will be made within five business days from the date of receipt of the request. Copying fees apply to FOIA Requests.

Police Clearance Letters

The Records Unit is open 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM Monday through Thursday, except for legal holidays. The Unit is closed on Fridays.

The cost for reports are as follows: $5.00 for any accident report and are available at the counter.  Accident reports are also available to the public on TracView.com.  Incident reports are a $10.00 flat rate and a Freedom of Information Act Request must be completed to obtain an Incident report.
