Building Division
Effective August 1, 2008, the 2006
editions of the Michigan Building Code, Michigan
Residential Code, and the Michigan Rehabilitation Code
for Existing Buildings will be enforced statewide.
Building Permit applications received on or after this
date will be reviewed and inspections will be
performed based upon compliance with these new code
editions.

The Building Division’s primary duties include the review
of construction plans and documents, the issuance of building,
electrical, mechanical and plumbing permits and the inspection
of new and renovated structures for compliance with applicable
codes and standards. It maintains permit and plan records and
provides professional administrative staff to the Construction
Board of Appeals and Electrical Board.
