Fire Prevention Division

Fire Marshal: Mike McCully
Phone: 248.433.7746
Fax: 248.642.7618

The Bloomfield Township Fire Department places a high priority on fire prevention activities. The Fire Prevention Division is responsible for Fire Inspections, Life Safety Building Code review and enforcement, Fire Investigations, Public Education, Emergency Management and maintenance of Firefighter Right-to-know data.

Public Education

In 2006 the Fire Department started a Safety education program within the Bloomfield Hills School District. The program targets second grade students and uses the National Fire Protection Association’s Risk Watch curriculum along with the Bloomfield Township Fire Safety Trailer and Model Tech’s Hazard House to teach the children safe behavior in eight different safety categories. This program has won the endorsement and financial participation of the teachers and administrators in the Bloomfield Hills School District as well as the Leyland Gayheart Fire Prevention Award in 2008.

The Fire Prevention Division also arranges fire station tours, school visits and holds an Open House each year during National Fire Prevention Week. Call us for details!

Open Houses

Fire Prevention Week activities coincide with the second week of October each year. During this time Bloomfield Township holds a Public Open House that includes not only the Fire Department, but many of the other Departments within the Township that provide services to our citizens. Call us for more details!

The Bloomfield Township Fire Department also hosts an open house in the spring for children with special needs.

The Bloomfield Township Fire Department also hosts an open house in the spring for children with special needs. This program is designed to provide a special time for the children to experience a visit to the fire station and time with a firefighter that is not as busy as the annual Bloomfield Township Open House.
