Woodward Dream Cruise Classic
Visit the 3rd Annual
Bloomfield Township Classic – a free car show and party
coinciding with the Woodward Dream Cruise Aug. 18
For the third year in a row Mercedes Benz of Bloomfield
Hills will be the site of the Bloomfield Township Classic, one
of the premiere free events happening along Woodward Avenue
during the 13th Annual Woodward Dream Cruise.
The Classic, a free car show and party coinciding with the
Aug. 18, Dream Cruise, features entertainment, food and one of
the best vantage points for viewing the excitement that takes
place along Woodward.
It is held from 1:00 – 5:00 PM at the Mercedes Benz of
Bloomfield Hills dealership on Woodward just south of Quarton.
Spots are still available for owners of pre-1972 classic or
specialty cars looking to be part of the Bloomfield Township
Classic. A two-tiered entry system has been added this year.
For $100 vehicle owners can register their cars and receive an
official event polo shirt or they can pay $75 without the
shirt. All car show participants will receive an official
Woodward Dream Cruise dash plaque.
This juried car show, party and charity event was started
by a group of Township car enthusiasts looking to involve
their neighbors in the largest one-day auto event in the
world. Proceeds from car registrations and sponsorships go to
help three local charities: The Bloomfield Hills Optimists
Club, the Bloomfield Township Fire Dept. Charities and Oakland
Family Services.
Helping to offset the costs this year with a major
sponsorship is the Ohio-based Cobra replica dealer Dynamic
Motorsports. Dynamic specializes in the sales and service of
Cobra and GT-40 replicas officially licensed by the car’s
original inspiration, Carroll Shelby. Part of Dynamic’s
display will include test drive opportunities on Sunday, Aug.
19, for interested buyers.
Mercedes-Benz of Bloomfield owner Charles Ghesquiere again
this year makes the Bloomfield Township Classic possible by
donating the use of his dealership.
In addition to cruising music spun by a D.J., this year’s
Classic will also feature a performance by the Meladies, a
Lahser High School vocal group and a performance by members of
the Andover pom pon squad.
New this year to the Classic is an opportunity for families
to have a portrait taken with a Bloomfield Township Fire Dept.
vehicle as a backdrop. Framed pictures will be available for
purchase for $5.
The Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation
(SMART) will offer free transportation from 8:30 AM to 11:00
PM on Aug. 18 from 8 Mile Road to downtown Pontiac. The
special SMART bus stops will be marked with red. For more
information about special Dream Cruise SMART bus stops call
