2006
Clean Sweep
Families,
neighborhood associations and civic groups banded together
April 29, 30 to remove tons of trash and debris from safety
paths and roadside areas throughout the Township during Clean
Sweep.
Community participation for the first-time event was
encouraging with more than 500 residents giving their time to
help beautify the Township. These residents were responsible
for removing enough trash and debris to fill five large tandem
trucks to the top.
Department of Public Works estimates show that some 1,500
volunteer work hours went into the event. Next year an awards
component may be added to Clean Sweep to include recognition
in fun categories like "Most Trashed Picked Up" and "Most
Valuable Clean Sweep Player".
