Sunrise Senior Assisting Living Center

Bloomfield Township Supervisor Dave Payne announced today that after a two-year search for an appropriate site within Bloomfield Township, Sunrise Development, Inc. will build a Senior Assisted Living center on the west side of Telegraph Road, north of Square Lake Road, where a vacant restaurant (Chi Chi’s) now stands.

"This is a great solution for everyone involved," said Payne. "Our senior residents and their families have long felt the need for a nearby quality facility, and that parcel of land needed to be re-developed. We have worked with Sunrise for two years to find a site within the Township that would be suitable for everyone’s purposes."

The search for a site began in August, 2002 when officials from Sunrise recognized the need in Bloomfield Township for a senior assisted living facility and studied various locations. The site initially chosen did not meet the Township’s zoning and land use requirements.

With cooperation from the Township’s Planning Department, the vacant Chi Chi’s restaurant was identified as a viable location. The location’s benefits meet several goals:
