Taxes
The Bloomfield Township Treasurer's Office mails
approximately 46,000 tax statements each year. Informational
tax statements are mailed to homeowners who have a mortgage
company paying their taxes. If your tax payment is made by
mail, you will receive a receipt by return mail.
Disbursement of Tax Dollars
The Bloomfield Township Treasurer's Office Collects and
distributes your tax dollars to the following entities:
- State of Michigan
- Oakland County
- Oakland Community College
- Oakland County Intermediate School District
- School districts within Bloomfield Township
- Bloomfield Township General Fund, Police, Fire, Library
and Public Transportation Authority.
Summer Taxes
Summer Taxes are due July 1st and payable July 1st –
September 14th without interest. The tax statements, which are
mailed out in June, are called the summer and/or school taxes.
Half of the school taxes are billed on the July statement,
with the exception of the Pontiac School District, which bills
100% of its school taxes on the July 1st tax statement.
Beginning in 2003 the State Education portion of your taxes is
billed 100% on the summer tax statement. The County Operating
portion of your taxes are billed on the summer statement. July
taxes become a lien on the property on July 1st and are
subject to interest on payments received after September 14th.
Deferred Taxes
Your summer tax payment may be deferred until February
14th, if your total household income for the previous year was
less than $40,000, and if you are any of the following:
Senior Citizen (age 62)
Paraplegic/Quadriplegic
Eligible Serviceman, Eligible Veteran, or Eligible
Widow/Widower
Blind Person
Totally and Permanently Disabled
If you fit any of the above criteria, fill out an
application and send it to the Bloomfield Township Treasurer's
Office. Proof of household income may be required. Please note
that this application must be signed. Call the Treasurer's

Winter Taxes
Winter taxes are due December 1st and payable December 1st
through February 14th without penalty. The tax statements,
which are mailed out in November, are called the winter and/or
December taxes. Bloomfield Township taxes and half of the
local school taxes are billed on the December bill. December
taxes become a lien on the property on December 1st and are
subject to penalty on payments received after February 14th.

2. When are taxes billed?
Taxes are billed twice a year: Statements are sent mid June
and mid November for due dates July 1st and December 1st. July
taxes are payable without interest by September 14th. December
taxes are payable without penalty by February 14th. All unpaid
taxes are sent as delinquent to Oakland County on March 1st.
3. Where are payments made?
Payments for Township business can be made at the Township
offices or over the telephone or internet by credit card or
direct deposit. Banks and utility companies cannot accept our
payments. A 24-hour drop box is located in the Township's main
lobby.
4. May I make my payment by credit card or direct
deposit?
Information regarding Credit Card and Direct Deposit Payments
is printed on the reverse side of the Tax statement, or call
our Office at 248.433.7705. You may also visit the
Payment Options page of this website and use one of the
payment options.
5. How do I go about processing my name, address or bank
change?
A written request must be sent to the Township for all
changes; there is space provided on the back of your tax bill
for these changes or you can use the Notification of Name
Change form found on this website. You can also mail or fax
your request to the Township office.
6. What happens if I'm late in paying my winter taxes?
All payments received after February 14th are subject to 3%
penalty. On March 1st and thereafter, all delinquent taxes
must be paid to the Oakland County Treasurer, 1200 N.
Telegraph, Pontiac, MI 48341. A 4% county property tax
administration fee and a penalty of 1% interest per month for
every delinquent month will be applied. If payments are made
on or after March 1st, a revised statement from the Township
must accompany your remittance to the county office.
