911

There are a limited number of 9-1-1 lines. For this reason, 9-1-1 should only be used for emergencies.

Because of your location and the location of the cell tower closest to you, your 9-1-1 call may not be routed to the correct jurisdiction. This is especially true when in areas of Bloomfield Township that border other communities. For example, if you are anywhere near Adams Road between I-75 and Big Beaver Road, your 9-1-1 call could be routed to either Bloomfield Township, or the City of Troy.

For this reason, it is always important to know where you located when dialing 9-1-1. In case your call does go to a different jurisdiction, the dispatcher will be able to quickly ascertain if your call needs to be transferred.

Participation in MADD Programs

The Bloomfield Township Police Department supports the efforts of Mothers Against Drunk Driving and regularly participates in their public awareness programs. "Project Red Ribbon," or "Tie One On For Safety" is a campaign that takes place every year between Thanksgiving and New Year's Day. Township police officers distribute red ribbons for display on vehicles to remind the public about the consequences of driving while drunk. The Department also nominates an officer for an annual "LifeSaver" Award. This Award recognizes and honors a Bloomfield Township patrol officer who helps keep our roads free from drunk drivers. Last year's nominee was an officer who has an exceptionally strong record in OUIL/OUIN (operating under the influence of liquor/operating under the influence of narcotics) enforcement.

For more information about MADD visit MADD.org.
