Approved Commercial Development
A drive through the Township will reveal several sites of
commercial development. The Township is proud to highlight the
following businesses currently under construction:
Sunrise Assisted Living: 6790 Telegraph
An assisted living facility will be located on the site of
the former Birmingham Farms apartment buildings. This
development will closely match the existing Sunrise Assisted
Living facility located at 2080 Telegraph Road, north of
Square Lake Road, in regard to floor plans, site amenities,
and building design.
In addition to a lobby, parlor, dining rooms, kitchen,
lounge, library and other residential services, a total of 80
resident units will be contained within a three-story
building. The 64,076 sq. ft. building will be located near the
Telegraph Road frontage with parking extending northerly and
southerly abutting the Bloomfield Plaza Shopping Center
property to the north and Sandalwood Drive to the south. The
building is projected to open in December 2008.
East Elevation
Target: 2400 Telegraph
A new Target store will be built on the site of the former
Showcase Cinema West. This unique Target store will be
elevated to provide for parking beneath the building. The use
of quality building materials will result in an
architecturally impressive structure. The building will be
nestled within the community through the use of intense
landscaping and by slightly lowering the existing grade of the
site. The Telegraph Road median has been revised to provide
for improved traffic circulation. The redesigned median will
also be extensively landscaped. The building is projected to
open in October 2008.
LA Fitness: 2050 Telegraph
LA Fitness will be constructed on the site of the previous
Frank’s Nursery. The fitness center boasts racquetball courts,
a pool, a second story basketball court, modern gym amenities
and a child’s play area. This two-story structure will
contribute to the vitality of Telegraph Road, as well as
provide a valuable service to the community. The fitness
center is projected to open in May 2008.
Smart Center Bloomfield: 1765 Telegraph
The North American headquarters of Smart Car will be
located on the site of the former Toyota dealership. The
existing building and site are undergoing extensive
modifications to provide for an updated, sleek appearance. The
Smart Center of Bloomfield will also serve as a local
dealership for their product. The Smart Car dealership is
currently open with a temporary certificate of occupancy.
