Building Division

Effective March 9, 2011, the following codes will be enforced:
2009 Michigan Residential Code
2009 Michigan Uniform Energy Code
2009 Michigan Building Code
2009 Michigan Plumbing Code
2009 Michigan Mechanical Code
2008 National Electrical Code *Including 2008 Mi. Part 8 Rules
2009 Michigan Rehabilitation Code
Building Permit applications received on or after this date will be reviewed and inspections will be performed based upon compliance with these new code editions.

The Building Division’s primary duties include the review of construction plans and documents, the issuance of building, electrical, mechanical and plumbing permits and the inspection of new and renovated structures for compliance with applicable codes and standards. It maintains permit and plan records and provides professional administrative staff to the Construction Board of Appeals and Electrical Board.

Building Official – George Kilpatrick Act 54 Registered Building Official Act 54 Registered Building Inspector Act 54 Registered Plan Reviewer Licensed Builder Professional Affiliations: Southeast Michigan Building Officials and Inspector’s Association Oakland County Building Officials Association Huron Valley Code Officials Code Officials Conference of Michigan International Code Council The Building Official administrates and enforces the adopted Building Codes and Township Ordinances. The Building Official oversees the inspection staff of the Building Division, and performs plan reviews and field inspections.
