The Bloomfield Township Fire Department places a high
priority on fire prevention activities. The Fire Prevention
Bureau is responsible for Fire Inspections, Life Safety
Building Code review and enforcement, Fire Investigations,
Public Education, Emergency Management and maintenance of
Firefighter Right-to Know data.
Public Education
The Bloomfield Township Fire Department will start a new
Fire Safety Education program within the Bloomfield Hills
School District starting in January 2006. The program will
target second grade students and will use The National Fire
Protection Association’s Risk Watch curriculum, with Model
Tech’s Hazard House and Bloomfield Township’s Fire Safety
Trailer to teach children safe practices in eight different
categories. This program is designed to promote safety in
their daily lives.
The Fire Prevention Bureau also arranges fire station
tours, school visits and holds an Open House each year during
National Fire Prevention Week. Call us for more details!
Open House
Fire Prevention Week activities coincide with the second
week of October each year. During this time Bloomfield
Township hosts a Public Open House that includes the Fire,
Police, Road, Water and Environmental Departments. Call us for
