BTFD Charities LogoThe Bloomfield Township Firefighters Charities (BTFD) works year round to help fund burn treatment research, prevent juvenile arson, assist local individuals in need and support community-based assistance programs. Since its beginning in the mid-1980s, BTFD has raised approximately $400,000.00 for these causes.

Last year, we added a new fundraising event. In March, 2011, we donned our bathing suits (and other creative costumes!) and braved the cold and ice at the Polar Bear Plunge.

In addition, we continued some of our long-standing successful fundraisers:

  • In April we sponsored our Annual Bowling Tournament,
  • In May we enjoyed the 25th Anniversary of the BTFD Charities Golf Outing, our largest fundraiser, held this year at the Wabeek Country Club.
  • In August we partnered with other charitable organizations and Bloomfield Township to put on Bloomfield Township’s Woodward Dream Cruise Classic Car Show.

Once again over the holidays BTFD Charities partnered with the Bloomfield Optimist Club to support its annual Christmas Wish Program. This joint venture has provided gifts to hundreds of Bloomfield area children through the years and given them a taste of the holiday spirit. Every year you will find our members and their families donating their time doing holiday shopping and wrapping gifts for the children.

The BTFD Charities offers assistance in both local and surrounding areas. Our continued efforts help support medical treatment at The University of Michigan Trauma Burn Center, Children’s Hospital, Survival Flight of Michigan, and St. Jude’s. We also provide scholarships through Bloomfield Youth Guidance and the Oakland Community College Fire Academy.

Would you like to support these efforts? Become a Corporate Sponsor. For information call 248.433.7745 or email us.
