Wabeek Lake Report from Dr. Pullman

Wabeek Lake has a surface area of approximately 35 acres and a mean or average depth of 12 feet. The lake contains about 420 acre-feet of water, which equates to 137 million gallons. The majority of the Wabeek Lake watershed is urbanized. Water drains to Wabeek Lake via several inlets. The largest of which enter from Turtle and Lower Long Lakes. Wabeek Lake’s outlet flows to the Rouge River and on to the Detroit River.

Lake Board Information

At the request of residents, a Lake Improvement Board was convened for Wabeek Lake in 1989. The Lake Improvement Board was established as a mechanism to address apparent water quality concerns within the lake. Later that year, the Wabeek Lake Improvement Board began a study to quantify the water quality issues impacting Wabeek Lake and determine what actions, if any, were required to correct these issues.
