Upper Long Lake Meeting Packet - May 15, 2012

Upper Long Lake has a surface area of approximately 130 acres. The lake has a shoreline about 5.6 miles long. The majority of the 564-acre Upper Long Lake watershed is urbanized. The watershed is located partially within both West Bloomfield and Bloomfield Township. Water drains to Upper Long Lake via several inlets. Upper Long Lake’s outlet flows into Lower Long Lake, Forest Lake, the Rouge River and on to the Detroit River.

Lake Board Information

At the request of residents, a Lake Improvement Board was convened for Upper Long Lake in 1984. The Lake Improvement Board was established as a mechanism to address apparent water quality concerns within the lake. Later that year, the Upper Long Lake Improvement Board began a study to quantify the water quality issues impacting Upper Long Lake and determine what actions, if any, were required to correct these issues. Upper Long Lake & Mallard Ct. Canal Dredging Project

Following a request by a majority of Upper Long Lake riparians, a Special Assessment District (SAD) was established to allow for the dredging of canals serving Upper Long Lake Estates and Mallard Court. An engineering report regarding the study is available by clicking the link found below. This project was fully completed in 2010.
