Orange Lake has a surface area of approximately 33 acres, a maximum depth of 10.5 feet, and a mean or average depth of 2.9 feet. The lake contains about 98 acre-feet of water, which equates to 32 million gallons. The lake has a shoreline about 1.0 mile long. Water drains to Orange Lake via several inlets and the lake is also fed by a spring. Orange Lake’s outlet flows southeast into a tributary to the Rouge River and on to the Detroit River.

Lake Board Information

At the request of residents, a Lake Improvement Board was convened for Orange Lake in 2003. The Lake Improvement Board was established as a mechanism to address apparent water quality concerns within the lake. Later that year, the Orange Lake Improvement Board began a study to quantify the water quality issues impacting Orange Lake and determine what actions, if any, were required to correct these issues.
