Lower Long Lake Board Hearing of Assessment Packet

Lower Long Lake has a surface area of approximately 190 acres. The lake has a shoreline about 5.1 miles long. The majority of the 446-acre Lower Long Lake watershed is urbanized. Water drains to Lower Long Lake via several inlets. The largest of which enters from Upper Long Lake at the south end of the lake. Lower Long Lake’s outlet flows into Forest Lake, the Rouge River and on to the Detroit River.

Lake Board Information

At the request of residents, a Lake Improvement Board was convened for Lower Long Lake in 1985. The Lake Improvement Board was established as a mechanism to address apparent water quality concerns within the lake. Later that year, the Lower Long Lake Improvement Board began a study to quantify the water quality issues impacting Lower Long Lake and determine what actions, if any, were required to correct these issues.
