Solicitor Information

Summer time and door-to-door solicitors seem to go hand-in-hand. Please be aware that under the U.S. Constitution the Township cannot prohibit door-to-door solicitation but we can and do attempt to regulate such activity. The Township’s solicitation Ordinance, previously upheld by federal court, requires a permit from the Township Clerk (which the solicitor must carry) and restricts solicitation hours from 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM (SDT) and 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM (EST). Homeowners not wanting solicitors may post a sticker or notice on their door, "Private Property – NO SOLICITORS." Stickers are available at most hardware stores.

You may have your phone number listed on a new national "Do Not Call" registry that will render the line off-limits to telemarketers. Simply call 888.382.1222 or register on line. Violators face fines up to $11,000.
