GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Integral member of adult day service (ADS) team providing therapeutic activities and personal care to senior adults who have cognitive, memory, and/or physical impairments. Assists in development, planning, implementation and evaluation of program activities. Provide one to one support to members as needed. Provide input to develop and monitor members’ care plans and ensure a safe environment. This position is supervised by the ADS Coordinator/Social Worker. The schedule is created monthly based on member census, and would likely consist of 2 days per week/4-6 hours per day. Position capped at 1,400 annually.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Develop an effective working relationship with each participant based upon knowledge of each member's psychosocial and physical health assessment.
  • Provide input to develop and monitor members’ care plans.
  • Assist the Activities Assistant to develop, plan, implement and evaluate program activities.
  • Lead or co-lead activities as assigned.
  • Assist members with personal care, including toileting and hygiene if needed.
  • Provide limited physical assistance for safety and balance.
  • Ensure safety of members by monitoring health status, behavior, and environment.
  • Assist with van transport of member. MI chauffeur’s license preferred or be able to get one within first two months of employment.
  • Record observations of participant behavior and communicate with other staff regarding changes.
  • Assist with cleaning as needed to avoid risk to participants or to enhance program operation.
  • Provide supportive intervention to family caregivers, as requested.
  • Set up program area for meal, serve meal, and clean up after meal.

SUPPLEMENTARY JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Render first aid as needed. First aid/CPR training provided within 3 months of hire.
  • Attend staff meetings, trainings; assist in public relations and community activities as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, ABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1+ year related work experience with senior adults who have cognitive, memory, and/or physical impairments preferred.
  • Experience providing personal care and therapeutic activities preferred.
  • Dementia training preferred.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to successfully communicate with participants, the public and staff.
  • Competence in writing and computer skills sufficient to prepare required documentation.
  • Driving record must meet safe driving standards as established by Agency insurance carrier. Valid Michigan driver's license required; chauffeurs recommended.

Building Maintenance Technician

GENERAL RESPONSIBLITIES:

Perform a variety of hands-on technical maintenance repair work involving construction, maintenance and repair of Township assets. Responsible for the tools, machinery, materials and equipment necessary for the proper upkeep of Township assets. Assist and direct Township contractors as assigned. Work special hours as required.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Fleet/Facilities Manager.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED OVER

Supervision is exercised over laborers, seasonal, temporary and/or part time employees or others, including outside contractors, hired and/or assigned to assist the Building Maintenance Division.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

A Building Maintenance Technician may be called upon to do any or all of the following (These examples do not include all of the tasks which the employee may be expected to perform):

  • Perform the duties of a building maintenance technician involved in hands on repairs and maintenance.
  • Perform decontamination procedures on buildings and other Township property contaminated with blood or other bodily fluids.
  • Investigate complaints and equipment malfunctions.
  • Repair and maintain heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
  • Repair and maintain electrical systems.
  • Repair and maintain plumbing.
  • Assist contractors in the installation and maintenance of all phases of contracts; provide general supervision and inspection of completed work.
  • Perform miscellaneous carpentry tasks.
  • Research and pursue relevant training opportunities as well as attend any meetings and/or classes as required by Bloomfield Township.
  • Ability to engage in heavy manual labor for extended periods, in all types of weather and under various working conditions.
  • Cross-train and assist other Public Works divisions as needed.
  • Move records, furniture and equipment as required.
  • Setup chairs, tables and equipment as required.
  • Ready buildings for business each day.
  • Plow, shovel and salt streets, parking lots and sidewalks.
  • Operate trucks and other light power driven equipment and tools.
  • Complete daily time sheets.
  • Wash and clean equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR EMPLOYMENT:

  • Technical knowledge and experience in the maintenance and repair of building facilities, including heating, air conditioning, electrical and plumbing.
  • Knowledge/experience in using energy management systems.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings and plans.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records and reports.
  • Ability to do data entry; basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and establish good working relationships with other employees and departments.
  • Demonstrate oral and written communicative skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with the general public.
  • Meet the physical and mental requirements as established by a licensed physician and/or psychologist selected by Bloomfield Township.
  • Must possess a valid Michigan Driver’s License with a good traffic record.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must maintain a valid Michigan Commercial Driver’s License including an air brake and other endorsements; will be required to obtain within 90 days of employment.
  • Must possess technical certifications/degree in commercial HVAC, boiler systems and/or electrical at time of application.

Public Works - Temporary/Seasonal Laborer

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform a variety of manual labor work including heavy manual labor for extended periods of time involved in Water, Road, Building Maintenance, and Grounds Departments.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Work is performed under immediate supervision of an employee of a higher class.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Perform any of a variety of tasks involving physical strength and agility, such as break concrete, shovel asphalt, cut out and lay sod, clean up roadside litter, sweep streets, sidewalks, rake lawns, trim trees and brush, mow grass, dig holes and trenches, read meters or other tasks identified by Bloomfield Township
  • Mow, trim and water turf; prune trees and shrubs; apply weed control, fertilizer and disease control to lawns; plant and maintain flowers, weed shrubbery beds as well as performing other related work as assigned
  • Fill holes in streets with asphalt and gravel.
  • Shovel snow, dirt & other materials
  • Perform building, grounds and equipment maintenance and cleaning work.
  • Cut brush along roads.
  • Paint buildings and equipment.
  • Operate pickup trucks or light power driven equipment such as air hammers, chain saws, power mowers, plows, roto tillers and other equipment and tools.
  • Load materials into trucks.
  • Plow and salt streets, parking lots and sidewalks.
  • Ability to engage in heavy manual labor for extended periods, in all types of weather and under various working conditions.
  • Place and remove road barricades and flares.
  • Mix and pour cement.
  • Wash and clean equipment.
  • Complete daily time sheets.
  • Perform other essential tasks as identified by Bloomfield Township.

SUPPLEMENTARY JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Make parts runs for Motor Pool.
  • Assist mechanics in making vehicle repairs
  • Wash and clean administrative and other vehicles.
  • Respond to routine citizen complaints.
  • Attend meetings and classes as identified by Bloomfield Township.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Bloomfield Township administrators.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

This year round, part time position is responsible for ensuring the safety of adults in a warm water exercise pool in a state-of-the art senior center during approximately 50 hours of the Open Swim and fitness programs. The new center opened in 2009 for residents of Bloomfield Township over the age of 50. The center is open 6 days and 70 hours weekly and the position requires alternative scheduling that may include 7 AM starts or 8 PM closing. Position reports to the Assistant Pool Coordinator.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Ensure safety of all patrons; execute accident prevention in and around pool area.
  • Enforce policies and procedures for participation.
  • Administer First Aid as needed in a calm and effective manner.
  • Execute pool maintenance, testing and cleaning including daily documentation.
  • Ability to relate to patrons and staff in a positive and professional manner.
  • Perform other essential tasks as identified by Assistant Pool Coordinator.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, ABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 17 years of age.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience.
  • Current Lifeguard certification required (ARC, YMCA).
  • Current CPR/AED/First Aid certification required.
  • Experience with senior aqua fitness or group instruction a plus.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills required.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Reliable use of email and knowledge of MS Office a plus.

Bloomfield Township Senior Services
Mini-Bus Driver: Part Time

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

This part time position includes driving the mini bus to provide rides between customers’ homes and the active senior center. It may also include an occasional day trip. Supervision is by the Deputy Director of Senior Services, or designee.

The Center Transportation operates 9 AM – 4 PM Monday through Friday and scheduling may include a 3 - 4 hour shift based on availably. Schedules are created monthly and hours needed vary from 8-16 per week. More than one candidate may be hired.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Drive 14 passenger shuttle bus per routes provided.
• Participate in BTSS scheduling process and complete weekly timesheets.
• Participate in BTSS team meetings and special events as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding patrons, department planning and communications.
• Clean and inspect BTSS bus; report maintenance concerns to administration.
• Perform related work and other essential tasks as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, ABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Must possess a valid Michigan Chauffeurs License.
• Ability to work positively with seniors, the public, employees and administrators.
• Ability to learn of safety operation of BTSS vehicles.
• Basic knowledge of First Aid, Universal Precautions.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to perform manual labor; including providing an arm for safe entry and exit of bus.
• Must possess and maintain an acceptable driving record.
