Traffic, Transportation & Parking

This document is available to view in PDF format. Traffic Plan

Plans for traffic, general transportation and parking are driven by public safety and security concerns. We were pleased that there were no serious traffic accidents or security incidents during the 2004 Ryder Cup Tournament and we want to maintain that record for the 2008 PGA.

Please see the Traffic, Transportation and Parking Map link above.

Access to all businesses will remain open throughout the week. For detailed plans that affect area businesses and their customers, please view the PowerPoint presentation. It will show exactly how the traffic will be controlled in the immediate area. It also discusses commercial parking lot management and special events permits for businesses.

Road Closures

Maple Road will be closed from just east of Telegraph at the Telegraph-Maple bypass to Lahser Road. ACCESS TO ALL BUSINESSES WILL REMAIN OPEN.

Gilbert Lake Road will be closed from Hills Drive south to Maple.

These closures are necessary to ensure the safety of pedestrians and other PGA activities.

Restricted Roads

The neighborhoods immediately bordering Oakland Hills Country Club will be restricted – no vehicle will be allowed to enter without a permit. Residents of those neighborhoods will be given detailed information about the permit process. The areas are indicated in pink on the map.

"No Parking" Areas

Outlying neighborhoods will have "No Parking" signs posted on their roads. This will be strictly enforced. The areas are indicated in tan on the map.

These measures must be taken to ensure the passage of emergency vehicles and the general safety and security of people in those neighborhoods. Your cooperation will be greatly appreciated.
